Reasons for rapid damage of wire drawing dies

Self machining quality factors of wire drawing die lead to rapid wear of die:

(1) the wire drawing die and the die steel sleeve mosaic is asymmetric, and the uneven distribution of the hard alloy steel sleeve is uneven or has the gap, it is easy to cause the U shape crack in the process of drawing wire;

(2) diamond die blanks in the laser drilling process, the sintering traces of cleaning not clean or uneven heating, will lead to the diamond layer metal catalyst and bond together into a pile of, so easily lead to in the process of drawing mold pits;

(3) the mold hole design is unreasonable, the inlet lubrication area is too small, the shape of the area is too long, can lead to poor lubrication, resulting in mold wear and tear even.

Improper use of wire drawing process lead to rapid wear and tear of the mold:

(1) drawing area is too large, resulting in cracks or breaking the mold. The vast majority of cracks or broken lines are generated by internal stress release. In any material structure, the existence of stress is inevitable and the internal stress of the wire drawing could enhance the microcrystalline structure of die, but when the drawing surface shrinkage is too large, can not be timely lubrication and temperature rise is too high it will lead to the mould that showed the portion of the material is removed, the microcrystalline structure to withstand the stress is greatly increased, making it more prone to cracks or broken.

(2) wire tensile axis and the die hole center line asymmetry, resulting in of wire rod and wire drawing die stress is not uniform, and mechanical vibration impact will cause of wire rod and wire drawing die very high peak stress, both will accelerate the die wear.

(3) the hardness of the wire caused by uneven annealing is easy to cause the fatigue damage of diamond wire drawing die prematurely, and the ring groove is formed, which aggravate the wear of die hole.

(4) rough surface, surface adhesion oxide, sand or other impurities will cause excessive wear and tear. When the wire passes through the die orifice, hard, brittle oxide layer and other adhesive impurities would like abrasive caused by wire drawing die hole soon wear and abrasion of wire rod surface.

(5) lubrication is not smooth or lubricating oil containing metal debris impurities lead to wear and tear. Poor lubrication can make the surface temperature rise too fast, diamond grains fall off, resulting in damage to the mold. When the lubricating oil is not clean, especially when the metal fragments which fall off in the drawing, it is easy to scratch the mold and wire surface.
